Vegan Food Hall

Brief
This project aimed to provide a design solution for a Vegan/Vegetarian Food bar that will be located in the Stannary Refectory on Penryn Campus. There is an existing food hall but there is currently no theme or decoration in the space. As part of the project I was required to create hand drawn scale floor plans, sections and Isometric view points using the correct drawing conventions, as well as a scale model of the space in context, with a consideration for materials and lighting.
The Outcome
The driving force for my design scheme was the location of the building Penryn Campus is set in beautiful gardens and forests that surround all the new university buildings and modern additions. My scheme aims to bring that aspect of nature into the refectory and link to the plant based menu the cafe would serve. Taking the shape of a tree and turning it into a structure made from flat panels allows for the structure to be used as seating and allows nature into the space in a reliable way that is low maintenance in comparison to having real plants growing.
